Lexus.com lists three towing items as standard on all six 2027 GX 550 trims: a tow hitch receiver, a trailer-brake controller and Tow mode.
Every 2027 GX uses a 10-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive with a Torsen limited-slip center differential with a locking feature.

Towing capacity is not the only limit
The towing capacity is the most a GX is rated to pull. The trailer, the cargo on it, your passengers and the cargo inside the vehicle all have to stay within its other weight limits too, and the trailer's tongue weight counts against them.

Lexus.com lists 7,601 lb. to 9,096 lb. for the 2027 GX 550, depending on the trim. The GX 550 Overtrail has the highest listed rating at 9,096 lb.; the GX 550 Luxury+ has the lowest at 7,601 lb.
Why do the GX trims tow different amounts?
Lexus.com lists a separate towing capacity for each trim but does not give the reason in its specifications. All six trims share the same 349-hp twin-turbo V6 and 10-speed transmission, and lexus.com lists curb weights from 5,585 lb. to 5,710 lb.
What does the optional towing rating mean?
For the Premium+, Luxury and Luxury+, lexus.com lists a second, higher towing capacity as an option: 9,063 lb., 8,020 lb. and 7,800 lb. respectively. Lexus.com does not name the option that brings the higher rating in its specifications, so check the window sticker of the vehicle you are looking at, or ask us.
Is a hitch standard on the 2027 GX?
