Lexus warning lights FAQ
What should I do if the check engine light comes on in my Lexus?
Lexus calls it the malfunction indicator lamp. Its Warning Lights page says it points to a malfunction in the hybrid system (hybrid vehicles) or the electronic engine, throttle or transmission control systems, and says to immediately stop the vehicle and contact your Lexus dealer, because continuing to drive may be dangerous.
What does the brake warning light mean on a Lexus?
Lexus says the brake system warning light comes on with a buzzer when the brake fluid level is low or the brake system is malfunctioning. Its instruction is to stop the vehicle immediately and contact your Lexus dealer. If the ABS and brake system warning lights both stay on, Lexus warns the vehicle will become extremely unstable during braking.
Can I keep driving with the low engine oil pressure light on?
No. Lexus says the light means engine oil pressure is too low and continued operation may cause severe engine damage. Stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Lexus dealer.
Why is my Lexus tire pressure light on?
If it comes on with a buzzer, Lexus says a tire is low from natural causes: let the tires cool, then check and adjust each one to the specified pressure. If it blinks for about a minute and then stays on with no buzzer, the tire pressure warning system itself has a malfunction.
Do these lights apply to every Lexus?
Not always. Lexus says these are the most common warning lights in Lexus vehicles but may or may not apply to your vehicle. Your owner's manual has the full list for your model.
